WE HOPE THIS LETTER FINDS YOU IN GOOD SPIRITS! To say 2020 was a whirlwind of activity would be putting it lightly. Who would have thought so much could happen in one year?

Although 2020 brought much turmoil to Utah's economy and the livelihood of many, we are lucky our state is better positioned than most for a quick and robust recovery. Salt Lake City ranked third in a Forbes article entitled "Three Secondary Markets That Are Booming During the Pandemic." Similarly, Moody's Analytics issued a report listing Provo and Salt Lake City among the top 10 cities best positioned to recover from the pandemic.

Utah's commercial real estate saw a mixed bag of activity, but one constant was change across the board. Some market sectors broke records, some quickly adapted, and some became better poised than ever to have a strong and healthy 2021.

The NAIOP Symposium Committee began planning in July 2020. With the pandemic creating obvious challenges, the committee spent a lot of time brainstorming a realistic program that would deliver meaningful information while maintaining engagement. We hope the chosen path and current issue of Symposium magazine continue to be a resource to help assist in making thoughtful business decisions.
