The Swiss government has adopted the eCH-0038-Records Management Framework model as a federal standard for e-government, according to the European ePractice newsletter. The reference model is a Swiss adaptation of ISO 15489:2001, Information and documentation--Records Management, Part 1.

The Swiss standard considers records management a process-oriented approach to information management. Using a reference model, it demonstrates the strong linkage between records management and process management. So, according to the standard, information management is essential to the guidance, coordination, and control of e-government activities.
