The NYSE said it will bar its directors from serving on the boards of listed companies.

The change comes after criticism erupted over NYSE chief executive Richard Grasso's business relationship with Home Depot Corp. founder Kenneth Langone.

Both Grasso and Langone are board members of Home Depot and the NYSE.
