Recent retirement hasn't slowed down Kne Macey, former owner and CEO of Macey's Stores, a Salt Lake City-based supermarket chain. Although his days may not be divided among executive meetings and management calls, he's still occupied. "It's as busy as going to work every day-you just don't know who your boss is," says Macey. When he was boss, he helped grow the company his father founded in 1946 from a string of seven small stores to nine upscale, price-oriented super stores. He sold the company to Associated Foods in 1999 and stayed on as chairman until last September, when he stepped to the greener side of the fence. You won't find him merely mowing that verdant side of life, he's active in planning new ventures and adventures, for which he relies on the Internet.
