Global Media Makers (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s Bureau of Educational
and Cultural Affairs seeks applications for the FY21
Global Media Makers announcement to conduct an
innovative professional development program for lm,
television, and online episodic content creators from
participating countries to enhance their creative skills.
Deadline: March 16, 2021.
Funds: $1.3 million total for one award.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; and nonprot
organizations.
Areas: DOS said this program will focus on in-
development lm, television, and online episodic content
(“projects”) and match fellows’ areas of interest with
mentor expertise. Fellows will travel to the United States
for a four-to-six-week residency, which will primarily take
place in Los Angeles, to work on projects with mentors
and receive state-of-the-art training and industry access
to support conceptual development of independent,
authentic, and compelling content for distribution in their
home countries. Following the residency, mentors will
travel to a select number of the fellows’ home countries,
when possible, for continued creative consultation and
engagement. Both mentors and fellows will mutually
benet from the extended creative and professional
development, which will promote critical thinking and
dialogue, leading to greater creative and entrepreneurial
connections.

Regional Infrastructure Accelerators (DOT)
Scope: The Transportation Department’s Build
America Bureau seeks applications for the Regional
Infrastructure Accelerators (RIA) announcement to
provide assistance and act as a resource to regional
entities as they develop transportation infrastructure
programs and projects that could be eligible for DOT
credit assistance.
Deadline: March 31, 2021.
Funds: $5 million total for up to ve awards ranging from
$100,000 to $2 million.
Eligibility: Public and state colleges and universities;
and state, local, special district, and Native American
tribal governments.
Areas: DOT said projects must: 1) serve a dened
geographic area; 2) act as a resource to qualied entities
in the geographic area in accordance with Section 1441
of the FAST Act; and 3) demonstrate the effectiveness
of an RIA to accelerate the delivery of eligible projects
through the bureau’s innovative nancing programs
including the TIFIA credit program, and, to the extent
applicable, the Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement
Financing (RRIF) credit program, Private Activity Bonds,
and other innovative nancing methods.

Special Research Grants Program Potato
Research (USDA)
Scope: The Agriculture Department’s National
Institute of Food and Agriculture seeks applications
for the Special Research Grants Program Potato
Research announcement to support potato (Solanum
tuberosum L.) research programs that focus on
varietal development, testing, and potato varieties for
commercial production.
Deadline: April 16, 2021.
Funds: $2.56 million total for awards ranging from
$130,000 to $900,000.
Eligibility: State agricultural experiment stations, land-
grant colleges and universities, research foundations
established by land-grant colleges and universities,
colleges and universities receiving funds under the
1962 McIntire-Stennis Cooperative Forestry Research
Act, and accredited schools or colleges of veterinary
medicine.
Areas: USDA said varietal development and testing
is research using conventional breeding and/or
biotechnological genetics to develop improved potato
varieties. Aspects of evaluation, screening, and testing
must support variety development.

lead to expanded adaptation and increased acres in the
United States of canola grown for oil and industrial hemp
grown for value-added products.

Funds: $930,000 total for awards of up to $225,000.
