In New York City, thousands of students have opted out of the New York State English Language Arts standardized test--6,000 in Long Island alone. On April 11, students at Manhattan's PS 87 and PS 372 rallied outside their schools and held home-made signs. Two of them read: "Less Testing More Teaching" and "I Am More Than a Test Score."
