On April 8, students and their supporters placed 375 school desks in the middle of the street outside the headquarters of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The deserted desks represent the number of students who drop out of Los Angeles schools each week. The protest was organized by Communities for Los Angeles School Success (CLASS), a coalition including the United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Urban League. The action caused traffic jams downtown.
