At 18, Michael Sessions is thought to be America's youngest Mayor ever. In November, he was sworn in as Mayor of Hillsdale, Mich. (population 9,000), after defeating the 51-year-old incumbent. Up front spoke to Sessions, a senior at Hillsdale High School, about his new responsibilities.

What prompted you to run for Mayor?

I've always been interested in government and the way things work ... Then I learned that nobody was running against the current Mayor. And I thought, you can't generate many new ideas for the city of Hillsdale without the whole campaign process. So I decided to throw my name into the race.

At 18, what do you bring to the table?

I bring a fresh perspective ... Young blood.
