to HRDQ: Advice from the
Managing Editor
Mary Lynn Lunn
This Forum piece is intended to offer some practical and prescribed guidelines
for submitting manuscripts to HRDQ. This advice from the HRDQ Managing
Editor is shared in order to help clarify the contributor guidelines and
improve the chances of submissions, of both new and previous contributors,
being placed under review at HRDQ. This article explains the peer-review
process and describes the characteristics of a successful submission.

The mission of Human Resource Development Quarterly (HRDQ) is to provide
an avenue for disseminating empirical research addressing HRD issues. The
editorial team of HRDQ relies on high-quality contributions from scholars and
practitioners, with expertise in HRD, from within the HRD fi eld and other
related disciplines such as HRM, management, psychology, and organization
behavior, to sustain the journal. We would like to take this opportunity to
thank all of the authors, reviewers, and editorial board members who have
contributed their time and expertise to HRDQ over the years and hope that
our team can rely on your continued support of the journal.
As a new year begins, we would like to encourage all of you who have
previously submitted manuscripts to HRDQ and those who may be less famil-
iar with HRDQ to consider HRDQ as a publication venue for your research.
Recently, we have received a number of queries from prospective authors
regarding the guidelines for submission and the types of articles that are of
interest to and considered by HRDQ. As managing editor for HRDQ, I would
like to offer some advice for both prospective and previous contributors with
the intention of helping to improve the chances of a submission being placed
