CalCPA thanks the following California Congressional representatives for expressing their concerns regarding the IRS proposed tax return preparer registration proposal: Joe Baca, Ken Calvert, John Campbell, Devin Nunes, Brad Sherman and Mike Thompson. They were among 31 Congress members who signed a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner asking the department and the IRS to exempt CPAs from the requirement to register persons working in CPAs firms who do not sign a tax return and to delay the implementation of the IRS preparer exam until it's been demonstrated that return preparer exams are necessary.
