* While Top Gun: Maverick soared at the box office this past summer, Dean of the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies David A. Deptula had some notes for the fictional operators in the Tom Cruise-led film.

The movie revolves around Cruise's character Pete "Maverick" Mitchell training a new generation of Navy fighter pilots to take out an enemy uranium enrichment plant. Deptula--a retired Air Force lieutenant general--said there was no need for all the high-flying action and suspense.
