STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

September 2016 totaled 32.4 mn bpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production

for September was 5.5 mn bpd, bringing total com-

bined production of crude oil and NGL to 37.9 mn bpd,

0.6 mn bpd or 1.5% higher than the gurefor September

2015.

Crude oil and NGL production in the OECD 30

countries totaled 21.8mn bpd in September, down by

0.1 mnbpd or 0.4% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwea lth

of Independent States (CIS) for September 2016 was

13.6 mn bpd, down 0.2 mn bpd or 1.3% compared with

September 2015, and for the rest of the world, produc-

tion was 15.8 mn bpd, 0.5 mn bpd or 2.9% lower than it

was in September 2015.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

September 2016 totaled 89.0 mn bpd, a decrease of

2.0 mn bpd or 0.2% compared with the gure for

September 2015.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas forJuly 2016 was 66.5 bcm,

up 1.0 bcm or 1.6% compared with July 2015.

In Canada, production in July totaled 14.4 bcm, an

increase of 0.2 bcm or 1.7% compared with July 2015.

Production for OECD Europe-23 was 19.6 bcm, up

1.6 bcm or 8.7% compared with the gure for July 2015.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

62.9 bcm, down 0.7 bcm or 1.2% compared with July

2015.

Over all, world total natural gas production in July

2016 was 289.0 bcm, an increase of 0.6 bcm or 0.2%

compared with the gure for July 2015.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite in

July 2016 was 578.0 mn mt,down 15.2 mn mt, a decrease

of 2.6% on the previous year.

Production in the US in July was 59.0mn mt, a fall

of 9.0 mnmt or 13.2% compared with the gure for July

2015.

lignite in July 2016, an increase of 1.7mn mt or 4.2%

compared with July 2015.

Electricity production

Net total world production of electricity in July 2016

was 6.3 bn kWh or 0.3% higher than in July 2015, at

1,982.3 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by

5.9 bn kWh, or 1.2% on the gure for July 2015,

at 483.8 bn kWh. US production for July 2016 was

4.3 bn kWh or 1.1% lower than the gure for July 2015

at 397.2 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23 was

259.7 bn kWh, which was 8.4 bn kWh or 3.1% lowerthan

the same month in 2015.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for July 2016 was

19.5 mn bpd, an increase of 0.1 mn bpd or 0.5% com-

pared with July 2015.

43.2 mn bpd, up 0.2 mn bpd or 0.5% compared with July

2015.

Products demand in Japan for July 2016 was

3.5mnbpd,adecreaseoflessthan0.1mnbpdor

1% compared with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in

July 2016 was 91.0 mn bpd, level with the gure for

July 2015.
