STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

March 2017 totaled 31.8 mnbpd. For the 12 members of

OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production for March

was 5.8 mn bpd, bringing tota l combined production of

crude oil and NGL to 37.6 mn bpd, 0.5 mn bpd or 1.3%

higher than the gure for March 2016.

Crude oil and NGL productionin the OECD 30 coun-

tries totaled 22.5 mn bpd in March, down by 0.2 mn bpd

or 0.7% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwealth

of Independent States (CIS) for March 2017 was

14.1 mn bpd, down 0.2 mn bpd or 0.7% compared with

March 2016, and for the rest of the world, production

was 15.8 mn bpd, down 0.1 mn bpd or 0.5% compared

with March 2016.

Total world production of crude oi l and NGL

for March 2017 totale d 89.9 mn bpd, an increase of

0.1 mnbpd or 0.1% compared with the gure for March

2016.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas for January 2017 was

62.9 bcm, down 1.6 bcm or 2.4% compared with January

2016.

InCanada,productioninJanuarytotaled15.4bcm,an

increase of 0.3 bcm or 1.7% comparedwith January 2016.

Production for OECD Europe-23 was 23.2 bcm, down

0.2 bcm or 0.8% compared with the gure for January

2016.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

86.3 bcm, up 5.1 bcm or 6.2% compared with January

2016.

Over all, world totalnatural gas production inJanuary

2017 was 322.0 bcm, an increase of 8.0 bcm or 2.6%

compared with the gure for January 2016.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite

in January 2017 was 575.0 mn mt, down 17.8 mn mt, a

decrease of 3.0% on the previous year.

Production in the US in January was 63.0 mn mt,

an increase of 10.2 mn mt or 19.2% compared with t he

gure for January 2016.

lignite in January 2017, an increase of 1.4mn mt or 3.1%

compared with January 2016.

Electricity production

Net total world production ofelec tricity in January 2017

was 72.5 bn kWh or 3.8% higher than in January 2016, at

1,969.7 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by

52.2 bn kWh, or 15.2% on the gure for January 2016,

at 394.6 bn kWh. US production for January 2017 was

0.8 bn kWh or 0.2% lower than the gure for January

2016 at 351.7 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23

increasedby7.9bnkWh,or2.5%comparedwith

January 2016, at 319.8 bn kWh.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for January 2017

was 19.2 mn bpd, an increase of 0.2 mn bpd or 0.9%

compared with January 2016.

AcrosstheOECD30countries,productsdemandwas

44.4 mn bpd, up 0.6 mn bpd or 1.4% compared with Jan-

uary 2016.

Products demand in Japan for January 2017 was

4.5 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.1 mn bpd or 1.3% compared

with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in Jan-

uary 2017 was 94.3 mn bpd, an increase of 2.4 mn bpd or

2.7% compared with the gure for January 2016.
