STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production

in October 2016 totaled 32.9 mnbpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production

for October was 5.7 mn bpd, bringing total combined

production of crude oil and NGL to 38.5mn bpd,

1.3 mn bpd or 3.4% higher than the gure for October

2015.

Crude oil and NGL production in the OECD 30

countries totaled 21.9mn bpd in October, down by

0.3 mnbpd or 1.5% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the C ommonwealth

of Independent States (CIS) for October 2016 was

13.5 mn bpd, down 0.1 mn bpd or 0.6% compared with

October 2015, and for the rest of the world, production

was 15.6 mn bpd, 0.3 mn bpd or 1.9% lower than it was

in October 2015.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

October 2016 totaled 89.5 mn bpd, an increase of

0.5 mn bpd or 0.6% compared with the gure for

October 2015.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas for August 2016 was

66.3 bcm, up 0.4 bcm or 0.6% compared with August

2015.

In Canada, production in August totaled 14.6 bcm,

an increase of 0.3 bcm or 2.4% compared with August

2015. Production for OECD Europe-23 was 17.2 bcm,

up 0.4 bcm or 2.1% comparedwith the gure for August

2015.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

64.1 bcm, up 1.2 bcm or 1.9% compared with August

2015.

Over all, world total natural gas productionin August

2016 was 286.5 bcm, a decrease of 0.7 bcm or 0.2% com-

pared with the gure for August 2015.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite

in August 2016 was 590.5 mn mt, down 10.7 mn mt, a

decrease of 1.8% on the previous year.

Production in the US in August was 64.6mn mt, a fall

of 8.8 mn mt or 12% comparedwith the gure for August

2015.

lignite in August 2016, an increase of4.5 mn mt or 10.8%

compared with August 2015.

Electricity production

Net total world production of electricity in August 2016

was 18.3 bnkWh or 0.9% higher than in August 2015, at

1,979.5 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by

6.1 bn kWh, or 1.3% on the gure for August 2015,

at 490.2 bn kWh. US production for August 2016 was

4.7 bn kWh or 1.2% lower than the gure for August

2015 at 389.1 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23 was

254.0 bnkWh, level with the gure for the same month

in 2015.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for August 2016

was 19.6 mn bpd, an increase of 0.1 mn bpd or 0.7%

compared with August 2015.

Across the OECD 30 countr ies, products demand

was 43.8 mn bpd, up 0.1 mn bpd or 0.3% compared with

August 2015.

Products demand in Japan for August 2016 was

3.7 mn bpd, a decreas e of less than 0.1 mn bpd or 1.7%

compared with the previous year.

Totalworld demand for petroleum products in August

2016 was 92.2 mn bpd, a decrease of less than 0.1 mn bpd

or 0.1% compared with the gure for August 2015.
