STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production

in September 2017 totaled 32.8 mn bpd. For the 12

members of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) produc-

tion for September was 5.8 mn bpd, bringing total com-

bined production of crude oil and NGL to 38.6 mn bpd,

0.5 mn bpd or 1.3% higher than the gurefor September

2016.

Crude oil and NGL productionin the OECD 30 coun-

tries totaled 21.9 mn bpd in September,up by 0.3 mn bpd

or 1.3% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwea lth

of Independent States (CIS) for September 2017 was

15.0 mn bpd, up 1.1 mn bpd or 8.1% compared with

September 2016, and for the rest of the world, produc-

tion was 16.7 mn bpd, up 0.6 mn bpd or 3.7% from the

previous year.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

September 2017 totaled 92.2 mn bpd, an increase of

2.5 mn bpd or 2.8% compared with the gure for

September 2016.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas forJuly 2017 was 60.3 bcm,

down 2.3 bcm or 3.7% compared with July 2016.

In Canada, production in July totaled 15.2bcm, an

increase of 0.8 bcm or 5.6% compared with July 2016.

Production for OECD Europe-23 was 19.5 bcm, up

0.7 bcm or 3.9% compared with the gure for July 2016.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

70.8 bcm, up 7.8 bcm or 12.4% comparedwith July 2016.

Over all, world total natural gas production in July

2017 was 304.8 bcm, an increase of 19.7 bcm or 6.9%

compared with the gure for July 2016.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite in

July 2017 was 546.2 mn mt,down 31.4 mn mt, a decrease

of 5.4% on the previous year.

Production in the US in July was 60.6mn mt, an

increase of 1.6 mn mt or 2.7% compared with the gu re

for July 2016.

lignite in July 2017, an increase of 1.5mn mt or 3.4%

compared with July 2016.

Electricity production

Net total world production of electricity in July 2017

was 489.9 bn kWh or 24.1% lower than in July 2016, at

1543.5 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production decreased

by 2.3 bn kWh, or 0.4% on the gure for July 2016,

at 514.8 bn kWh. US production for July 2017 was

0.4 bnkWh or 0.1% higher than the gure for July 2016

at 412.8 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23

increasedby1.3bnkWh,or0.5%comparedwithJuly

2016, at 260.5 bn kWh.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for July 2017 was

19.6 mn bpd, an increase of 0.2 mn bpd or 0.8% com-

pared with July 2016.

AcrosstheOECD30countries,productsdemandwas

44.4 mn bpd, up by 1.1 mn bpd or 2.6% compared with

July 2016.

Products demand in Japan for July 2017 was

3.5mnbpd,adecreaseoflessthan0.1mnbpdor

1% compared with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in July

2017 was 94.3 mn bpd, an increase of 1.6 mn bpd or 1.7%

compared with the gure for July 2016.
