STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

December 2014 totaled 30.4 mn bpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production

for December was 4.8 mn bpd, bringing total com-

bined production of crude oil and NGL to 35.1 mn bpd,

0.3 mnbpd or 0.7% more than the gure for December

2013.

Crude oil and NGL productionin the OECD 30 coun-

tries totaled 21.6mn bpd in December, up by 0.5mn bpd

or 2.6% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwealth

of Independent States (CIS) for December 2014 was

14.1 mn bpd, just 0.04 or 0.3% higher than the gure

for December 2013. For the rest of the world, produc-

tion was down by 0.2 mn bpd or 1.1% on the gure for

December 2013 at 15.8 mn bpd.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

December 2014 totaled 86.7 mn bpd, an increase of

0.6 mn bpd or 0.7% compared with the gure for

December 2013.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas for October 2014 was

61.4 bcm, up 2.5 bcm or 4.2% compared with that of

October 2013. In C anada, production totaled 13.3 bcm,

a fall of 0.2 bcm or 1.5% from the previous year.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

76.9 bcm, down 5.1 bcm or 6.3% compared with

the gure for October 2013. Production for OECD

Europe-23 was down by 1.3 bcm or 6.2% at 19.9 bcm.

Over all, world total natural gas production in Octo-

ber 2014 was 299.1 bcm, an increase of 8.4 bcm or 2.9%

compared with the gure for October 2013.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite in

October 2014 was 638.4 mn mt, down 14.0 mn mt, or

2.1% from the previous year.

Production in the US in October was 77.7 mnmt, an

increase of 0.3 mn mt or 0.3% compared with that of

October 2013.

Electricity production

Net world production of electricity in September 2014

was 1,789.9 bn kWh, an increase of 28.8 bn kWh or 1.6%

compared with the gure for September 2013.

In China, net electricity production increased by

28.2 bn kWh or 7.0% on the gure for September 2013,

at 432.4 bn kWh. US productionfor September 2014 was

up by 5.4 bn kWh or 1.7% compared to the preceding

year, at 320.0 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23 was

263.8 bn kWh, a fall of 4.1 bn kWh bnkWh or 1.5% com-

pared with the same month in 2013.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for October 2014

was 19.0 mn bpd, up by 0.2 mn bpd or 0.8% on the same

gure for 2013.

43.1 mn bpd, down by 0.2 mn bpd or 0.4% on the gure

for October 2013.

Products demand in Japan for October 2014 was

3.9 mn bpd, a fall of 0.2 mn bpd or 5.1% compared with

the gure for October 2013.

Total world demand for petroleum products in Octo-

ber 2014 was 90.1 mn bpd, an increase of 1.6 mn bpd or

1.8% compared with the same month in 2013.
