STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

November 2017 totaled 33.2 mn bpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production

for November was 5.8 mn bpd, bringing total combined

production of crude oil andNGL to 38.9 mnbpd, 0.1 mn

bpd or 0.2% higher than the gure for November 2016.

Crude oil and NGL production in the OECD 30

countries totaled 23.0 mn bpd in November, up by

0.5 mn bpd or 2.0% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Com monwealth

of Independent States (CIS) for November 2017 was

15.5 mn bpd, up 1.5 mnbpd or 10.4% compared with

November 2016, and for the rest of the world, produc-

tion was 16.7 mn bpd, up 0.7 mn bpd or 4.3% from the

previous year.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

November 2017 totaled 94.1 mn bpd, an increase of

2.7 mn bpd or 2.9% compared with the gure for

November 2016.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas for September 2017

was 61.7 bcm, down 1.7 bcm or 2.6% compared with

September 2016.

In Canada, production in September totaled

14.9bcm,anincreaseof1.2bcmor9%compared

with September 2016. Production for OECD Europe-23

was 18.1 bcm, up 2.4 bcm or 15.2% compared with the

gure for September 2016.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

73.6 bcm, up 4.5 bcm or 6.5% compared with September

2016.

Over all, world total natural gas production in

September 2017 was 301.8 bcm, an increase of 16.4 bcm

or 5.7% compared with the gure for September 2016.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite in

September 2017 was 570.8 mn mt, down 16.0 mn mt, a

decrease of 2.7% on the previous year.

Production in the US in September was 59.7 mn mt, a

decrease of 2.2 mn mt or 3.6% compared with the gure

for September 2016.

e CIS countries produced 48.3 mn mt of coal and

lignite in September 2017, an increase of 2.9 mn mt or

6.5% compared with September 2016.

Electricity production

Net total world production of electricity in September

2017 was 51.0 bn kWh or 2.7% higher than in September

2016, at 1,936.2 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by

28.8 bn kWh, or 6.2% on the gure for September

2016, at 490.1 bn kWh. US production for September

2017 was 5.6 bnkWh or 1.6% lower than the gure for

September 2016 at 346.1 bn kWh.

increasedby14.4bnkWh,or5.7%comparedwith

September 2016, at 265.6 bn kWh.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for September 2017

was 19.8 mn bpd, an increase of 0.3 mn bpd or 1.9%

compared with September 2016.

AcrosstheOECD30countries,productsdemandwas

44.5 mnbpd, up by 1.6 mnbpd or 0.3% compared with

September 2016.

Products demand in Japan for September 2017 was

3.7 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.1 mn bpd or 2.5% compared

with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in

September 2017 was 94.5 mn bpd, an increase of

0.6 mn bpd or 0.6% compared with the gure for

September 2016.
