STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

August 2017 totaled 32.3 mn bpd. Forthe 12 members of

OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production forAugust

was 5.8 mn bpd, bringing total combi ned production of

crude oil and NGL to 38.0 mn bpd, 0.1 mn bpd or 0.4%

higher than the gure for August 2016.

Crude oil and NGL productionin the OECD 30 coun-

tries totaled 22.6mn bpd in August, up by 0.2 mn bpdor

1.1% from the previous year.

Production in the c ountries of the Commonwealth of

Independent States (CIS) for August 2017 was 14.4 mn

bpd, up 1.2 mn bpd or 9.4% compared with August2016,

and for the rest of the world, production was 16.6 mn

bpd, up 0.6 mn bpd or 3.8% from the previous year.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

August 2017 totaled 91.6 mn bpd, an increase of

2.2 mn bpd or 2.5% compared with the gure for

August 2016.

Natural gas production

US production of naturalgas for June 2017 was 58.9 bcm,

down 2.1 bcm or 3.4% compared with June 2016.

In Canada, production in June totaled 13.9 bcm, a

decrease of 0.1 bcm or 1% compared with June 2016.

Production for OECD Europe-23 was 17.9 bcm, up 0.2

bcm or 1% compared with the gure for June 2016.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was 70.6

bcm, up 8.6 bcm or 13.9% compared with June 2016.

Over all, world total natural gas production in June

2017 was 298.0 bcm, an increase of 18.8 bcm or 6.7%

compared with the gure for June 2016.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite in

June 2017 was 557.5 mn mt,down 11.5 mn mt, a decrease

of 2% on the previous ye ar.

Production in the US in June was 60.8 mn mt, an

increase of 9.1 mn mt or 17.6% comparedwith the gure

for June 2016.

e CIS countries produced 38.0 mn mt of coal and

lignite in June 2017, an increase of 1.2 mn mt or 3.4%

compared with June 2016.

Electricity production

Net total world production of electricity in June 2017

was 223.5 bn kWh or 11.8% lower than in June 2016, at

1663.9 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production decreased by 0.7

bn kWh, or 0.2% on the gure for June 2016, at 460.0

bn kWh. US production for June 2017 was 2.0 bn kWh

or 0.6% higher than the gure for June 2016 at 370.0

bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23

decreasedby23.7bnkWh,or9.5%comparedwithJune

2016, at 225.7 bn kWh.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US forJune 2017 was 19.6

mn bpd, an increase of 0.1 mn bpd or 0.7% compared

with June 2016.

AcrosstheOECD30countries,productsdemandwas

43.9mnbpd,upby0.9mnbpdor2.1%comparedwith

June 2016.

Products demand in Japan for June 2017 was 3.5 mn

bpd, a decrease of less than 0.1 mn bpd or 0.8% com-

pared with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in June

2017 was 92.3 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.2 mn bpd or 0.2%

compared with the gure for June 2016.
