STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

February 2017 totaled 32.0 mn bpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production

for February was 5.7 mn bpd, bringing total combined

production of crude oil and NGL to 37.6mn bpd,

0.4 mn bpd or 1% higher than the gure for February

2016.

Crude oil and NGL productionin the OECD 30 coun-

tries totaled 22.6mn bpd in February, up by 0.1 mn bpd

or 0.5% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwea lth

of Independent States (CIS) for February 2017 was

14.1mnbpd,downbylessthan0.1mnbpdor0.1%com-

pared with February 2016, and for the rest of the world,

production was 15.8 mn bpd, down 0.1 mn bpd or 0.9%

compared with February 2016.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

February 2017 totaled 90.1 mn bpd, an increase of

0.3 mn bpd or 0.3% compared with the gure for

February 2016.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas for December 2016 was

63.4 bcm, down 1.4 bcm or 2.2% compared with Decem-

ber 2015.

In Canada, production in December totaled 15.1bcm,

an increase of 0.3 bcm or 1.9% comparedwith December

2015. Production for OECD Europe-23 was 24.1 bcm,

down 0.5 bcm or 2.1% compared with the gure for

December 2015.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

85.7 bcm, up 3.7b cm or4.5% compared with December

2015.

Over all, worldtotal natural gas productionin Decem-

ber 2016 was 322.0 bcm, an increas e of 7.8 bc m or 2.5%

compared with the gure for December 2015.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite

in December 2016 was 612.1 mn mt, up 7.6 mn mt, an

increase of 1.3% on the previous year.

Production in the US in December was 60.0 mn mt, an

increase of 2.9 mn mt or 5.1% compared with the gu re

for December 2015.

0.3% compared with December 2015.

Electricity production

Net total world production of electricity in December

2016 was 87.8 bn kWhor 4.5% higher than in December

2015, at 2,020.0 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by

63.1 bn kWh,or 13.7% on the gure for December 2015,

at 524.2 bn kWh. US production for December 2016 was

3.4 bnkWh or 0.1% lower than the gure for December

2015 at 321.0 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23

increasedby4.8bnkWh,or1.6%comparedwith

December 2015, at 296.0 bn kWh.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for December 2016

was 19.6 mn bpd, an increase of 0.2 mn bpd or 1.2%

compared with December 2015.

Across the OECD 30 countr ies, products demand

was 44.7 mn bpd, up 1 .3 mn bpd or 3% compared with

December 2015.

Products demand in Japan for December 2016 was

4.2 mn bpd, an increase of 0.2 mn bpd or 5.4% compared

with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in

December 2016 was 94.0 mn bpd, an increase of

2.2 mn bpd or 2.4% compared with the gure for

December 2015.
