STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production

in October 2017 totaled 32.2 mn bpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production

for October was 5. 7 mn bpd, bringing tota l combined

production of crude oil and NGL to 38.0 mnbpd,

0.5 mn bpd or 1.4% lower than the gure for O ctober

2016.

Crude oil and NGL productionin the OECD 30 coun-

tries totaled 22.5 mn bpd in October, up by 0.3 mn bpd

or 1.4% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwealth

of Independent States (CIS) for October 2017 was

15.4 mn bpd, up 1.8 mn bpd or 13.1% compared with

October 2016, and for the rest of the world, production

was 16.5 mn bpd, up 0.6 mn bpd or 3.6% from the

previous year.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

October 2017 totaled 92.4 mn bpd, an increase of

2.2 mn bpd or 2.4% compared with the gure for

October 2016.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas for August 2017 was

61.7 bcm, down 1.7 bcm or 2.6% compared with August

2016.

InCanada,productioninAugusttotaled15.1bcm,

an increase of 0.5 bcm or 3.5% compared with August

2016. Production for OECD Europe-23 was 20.1 bcm,

up 1.8 bcm or 9.9% compared with the gure for August

2016.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

73.8 bcm, up 9.7 bcm or 15.2% compared with August

2016.

Over all, world total natural gas productionin August

2017 was 308.8 bcm, an increase of 25.3 bcm or 8.9%

compared with the gure for August 2016.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite

in August 2017 was 573.8 mn mt, down 16.7 mn mt, a

decrease of 2.8% on the previous year.

Production in the US in August was 67.0 mn mt, an

increase of 2.3 mn mt or 3.6% compared with the gure

for August 2016.

e CIS countries produced 46.7 mn mt of coal and

lignite in August 2017, an increase of 0.2 mnmt or 0.5%

compared with August 2016.

Electricity production

Net total world production of electricity in August 2017

was 1.6 bn kWh or 0.1% higher than in August 2016, at

2,048.7 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production decreased by

6.1 bn kWh, or 1.2% on the gure for August 2016,

at 521.3 bn kWh. US production for August 2017 was

1.9 bn kWh or 0.5% lower than the gure for August

2016 at 407.9 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23

increasedby15.7bnkWh,or6.2%comparedwith

August 2016, at 269.5 bnkWh.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for August 2017

was 19.7 mn bpd, an increase of 0.2 mn bpd or 0.9%

compared with August 2016.

AcrosstheOECD30countries,productsdemandwas

44.7mnbpd,upby0.8mnbpdor1.9%comparedwith

August 2016.

Products demand in Japan for August 2017 was

3.6 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.1 mn bpd or 3.5% compared

with the previous year.

Totalworld demand for petroleum products in August

2017 was 94.7 mn bpd, an increase of 1.3 mn bpd or 1.4%

compared with the gure for August 2016.
