STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

December 2016 totaled 33.0 mn bpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production

for December was 5.7 mn bpd, bringing total com-

bined production of crude oil and NGL to 38.7 mn bpd,

1.4 mn bpd or3.6% hig hert hanthe gure for December

2015.

Crude oil and NGL productionin the OECD 30 coun-

tries totaled 22.6mn bpd in December, up by 0.2mn bpd

or 0.9% from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwealth

of Independent States (CIS) for December 2016 was

13.6 mn bpd, down 0.2 mn bpd or 1.2% compared with

December 2015, and for the rest of the world,production

was 15.7 mn bpd, 0.5 mn bpd or 2.8% lower than it was

in December 2015.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

December 2016 totaled 90.5 mn bpd, an increase of

0.9 mn bpd or 1.1% compared with the gure for

December 2015.

Natural gas production

US production of natural gas for October 2016 was

64.6bcm,down0.7bcmor1%comparedwithOctober

2015.

In Canada production in October totaled 14.0bcm,

a decrease of 0.5 bcm or 3.6% compared with October

2015. Production forOECD Europe-23 was 21.4 bcm, up

1.2 bcm or 5.7% compared with the gure for October

2015.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

81.1 bcm, up 0.9 bcm or 1.2% compared with October

2015.

Over all, world total natural gas production in Octo-

ber 2016 was 308.7 bcm, an increase of 1.2 bcm or 0.4%

compared with the gure for October 2015.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite

in October 2016 was 608.1 mn mt, down 6.6 mn mt, a

decrease of 1.1% on the previous year.

Production in the US in October was 66.2 mnmt, an

increase of 9.2 mn mtor 16.1% compared with the gure

for October 2015.

lignite in October 2016, a decrease of 0.9 mn mt or 1.8%

compared with October 2015.

Electricity production

Net total world productionof electricity in October 2016

was 18.9 bn kWh or 1% hig her than in October 2015, at

1,851.0 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by

4.6 bn kWh, or 1.1% on the gure for October 2015,

at 430.5 bn kWh. US production for October 2016 was

4.2 bn kWh or 1.4% lower than the gure for October

2015 at 308.7 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23

decreased by 1.7 bn kWh, or 0.6% compared with

October 2015, at 271.0 bn kWh.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for October 2016 was

19.6 mn bpd, an increase of 0.2 mn bpd or 1% c ompared

with October 2015.

Across the OECD 30 countr ies, products de mand

was 44.3 mn bpd, up 0.2 mn bpd or 0.5% compared with

October 2015.

Products demand in Japan for October 2016 was

3.7 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.2 mn bpd or 4.4% compared

with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in Octo-

ber 2016 was 93.7 mn bpd, an increase of 1.1 mn bpd or

1.2% compared with the gure for October 2015.
