STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and NGL production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

September 2013 totaled 30.0 mn bpd. For the 12 mem-

bers of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production for

September was 5.2 mn bpd, bringing total combined

production of crude oil and NGLs to 35.2 mn bpd, 1.0

mn bpd, or 2.7% less than the figure for September 2012.

Production of crude oil and NGL in the 30 countries

of the OECD totaled 19.0 mn bpd in September, an

increase of 0.8 mn bpd or 4.6% from the figure for the

previous year.

Production in the CIS countries for September 2013

increased by 14.0 mn bpd or only 0.2% from the figure

for September 2012. For the rest of the world, production

was 15.0 mn bpd, an increase of 0.3 mn bpd or 1.8%

from the figure for September 2012.

Total world production of crude oil and NGLs for

September 2013 totaled 83.3 mn bpd, an increase of 0.2

mn bpd or 0.2% from the figure for September 2012.

Natural gas production

World total natural gas production in July 2013 was

265.4 bcm, a decrease of 5.4 bcm or 2.0% from the

figure for July 2012.

Production in the CIS countries was 64.1 bcm, an

increase of 4.0 bcm or 6.7% from the figure for July

2012; US production for the same month was 58.6 bcm,

an increase of 1.0 bcm or 1.7%.

In Canada, production totaled 12.3 bcm, a decrease

of 0.1 bcm or 0.9% from the figure for the previous year;

for OECD Europe-23, production increased by 0.3 bcm,

or 1.9%, in July 2012, at 19.0 bcm.

Coal and lignite production

World total combined production of coal and lignite in

July 2013 was 629.8 mn t, a decrease of 35.9 mn t or

5.4% from the figure for the previous year.

Production in the USA in June was 80.7 mn t, an

increase of 2.4 mn t or 3.1% from the figure for July

2012.

The CIS countries produced 41.7 mn t of coal and

lignite in July, a decrease of 1.0 mn t or 2.3%.

Electricity production

Net world production of electricity in June 2013 was

1,761.7 bn kWh, a decrease of 20.7 bn kWh or 1.2%

from the figure for June 2012.

In China, net electricity production increased by 30.0

bn kWh, or 8.1%, from the figure for June 2012, at 399.3

bn kWh. US production for June 2013 decreased by 5.1

bn kWh, or 1.4%, from the figure for the previous year,

at 356.4 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23 was

250.5 bn kWh, a small decrease of 0.4 bn kWh or 0.2%

from the figure for the same month in 2012.

Products demand

Demand for oil products in the US for July 2013 was

18.7 mn bpd, an increase of 0.1 mn bpd or 0.7% from

the same figure for 2012.

Across the 30 OECD countries, products demand was

48.8 mn bpd, an increase of 0.3 mn bpd or 0.6% from

the figure for July 2012.

Products demand in Japan for July 2013 was 4.3 mn

bpd, an increase of 0.2 mn bpd or 0.4% from the figure

for the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in July

2013 was 95.2 mn bpd, an increase of 2.1 mn bpd, or

2.3%, from the figure for July 2012.
