Department of Health and Social Services Commissioner Karen Perdue recently announced the state has withdrawn from its attempt to purchase the Charter North facility in Anchorage as a replacement for the Alaska Psychiatric Institute. Instead, the state will look again at the existing API property to replace Alaska's only state-run psychiatric hospital.
