State on track to garner $200M sought from tax amnesty program.

The state is on track to bring in at least the $200 million it had been seeking through the two-month tax amnesty program, a treasury spokesperson confirmed Friday afternoon.

Between Nov. 15, 2018 and Jan. 15, the state treasury, which oversaw the amnesty program, received 77,834 phone calls and 9,125 emails with inquiries about the program, according to treasury spokesperson Jennifer Sciortino.

"We are still waiting for checks to come in the door from various settlements that have been reached so we will not have official numbers for at least a few more weeks," Sciortino said.

Individuals and businesses who did not pay taxes owed between Feb. 1, 2009 and Sept. 1, 2017 had the two-month window to pay back the taxes with reduced interest and no penalties.
