Research on Minority Health and Health Disparities
announcement to encourage innovative health services
research that can directly and demonstrably contribute
to the improvement of minority health and/or the
reduction of health disparities at the health care system
level as well as within clinical settings.
Deadline: Nov. 27, 2020; March 17, 2021; and Nov. 17,
2021.
Funds: The number of awards depends on
appropriations and the submission of a sufficient
number of quality applications.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations, including small businesses; nonprot
organizations; and state, local and Native American
tribal governments; among others.
Areas: NIH said examples of research methods could
include but are not limited to: cluster-randomized,
randomized or practical clinical trials of the effectiveness
of new or existing technologies (e.g., telehealth),
nontechnological interventions and multilevel
interventions that involve broad inclusion of patients
from health disparity populations and address a disease
or condition that disproportionately impacts health
disparity populations; studies that involve primary data
collection to study emerging challenges to the health
care system; and use of large-scale longitudinal data
sets, data mining techniques, registries and integration
of quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks
and techniques to address and inform implementation
of interventions addressing health services research in
minority health and health disparities. Areas of interest
will vary by department or agency.

State Occupational Safety and Health
Surveillance Program (CDC)
Scope: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
seeks applications for the (U60) research project
cooperative agreement applications State Occupational
Safety and Health Surveillance (OSH) Program
announcement for continuing and expanding state
occupational safety and health surveillance with the goal
of improving OSH surveillance across the United States.
Deadline: Letters of Intent, Oct. 30, 2020; proposals,
Dec. 16, 2020.
Funds: $40 million total for up to 30 awards. The
maximum project period is ve years.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations, including small businesses; nonprot
organizations; and state, local and Native American
tribal governments; among others.
Areas: CDC said activities include those that: identify and
access data that can be used to conduct surveillance of
work-related injuries, illnesses, exposures and fatalities;
analyze data to describe state-specic burden of work-
related injuries, illnesses, exposures, fatalities and their
trends; use ndings for the calculation of incidence and/or
prevalence of occupational injuries, illnesses, exposures
and fatalities, including calculation of occupational health
indicators; establish and address state and National Institute
for Occupational Safety and Health program priorities for
follow-up activities, including more in-depth data surveillance
and outreach, prevention and intervention programs; and
develop a broad network of partners assisting in identifying
data appropriate for surveillance and disseminating results.
