Who inspires her: "As a somewhat newer fiscal analyst, I am inspired by the wisdom, expertise and confidence of my colleagues."

Why did you choose to work at the legislature?

I interned at the Minnesota Capitol while studying public policy at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and I discovered how exciting and fascinating policymaking can be at the state level. I genuinely enjoyed the day-to-day, running around to committees, scribbling notes and hearing heartfelt testimony from the public. I learned then that I wanted to be a part of the legislature in some way. Now, working with the Minnesota Senate, I enjoy how each day is different from the last, and I value my role in providing resources to support and inform the policymakers in my state.

What skill or talent are you most proud of?

I am a curler! I like to humbly brag that, while I was in high school in Medford, Wisc., my team won the state championships. I'm not necessarily incredibly talented at curling, but I really enjoy the camaraderie and traditions of the sport.

What's the best advice you were ever given?

Whenever I would get anxious about big tests or swim meets growing up, my dad always told me to just try my best, that is all you can do. I carry that phrase with me still. Your "best" can look...
