Why did you choose to work at the legislature?

Prior to working for the Legislature, I helped to manage security operations at one of Boston's largest tourist destinations and at the commonwealth's convention centers. My experience was largely focused on publicly accessible venues that required a necessary balance between security and access. When the Massachusetts State House began its search for a new director of security, I felt confident my experience working in open, diverse and active venues had prepared me for this challenge. I also viewed the role as a unique opportunity to serve my community. I recognize the importance of maintaining a safe environment, especially in today's political climate, for the Legislature to conduct critical business and for the thousands of visitors who seek to participate in that process.

What skill or talent are you most proud of?

I believe one of the greatest strengths I bring to my role is my ability to collaborate and build consensus. In addition to supporting the Legislature, I also work closely with the executive branch and multiple agencies that share a responsibility in securing the State House. Positive working relationships with these groups have been vital in addressing the security challenges facing state capitols and elected officials in recent years.

Who or what inspires you?

My father has served as my greatest inspiration in both my personal and my professional lives. With little money, no formal education and only a basic understanding of the English language, my father arrived in the United States in the 1970s.
