J
SCM
is soliciting propo sals for ST Fs. Unlike a spec ial issue, t hese ST Fs are designe d to include a
smaller subse t of artic les and will be published as a ‘‘spec ial issue’’ within a re gular is sue of
JSCM
.
The purpos e of making this dis tinction is to balance t he need for such specia l issues with the nec es-
sity of having a broade r set of articles w ithin any one of
JSCM
’s four issues published eac h year.
The proposal should inc lude:
• A descript ion of the viabilit y and interest in the topic by supply cha in scholar s. Will the topic e ffec-
tively capt ure the interest of the
Journal ’s
readership or a key p ortion of its readership? Who w ill be
interested, a nd why?
• The timeline v iability – e.g ., a distant dead line with t he idea of cast ing a “broad net” ver sus a
shorter dead line. If the propos al includes a shor t deadline, t hen specif ic works in process should
be discus sed (e.g., conference trac ks, research st reams, potential contr ibutors, etc.). If the propos al
includes a more dist ant deadline, are there a ny specific schola rs who might be targete d as potential
contributors ?
• Other facet s of the ability of the STF e ditor(s) to effectively s olicit high qua lity, impactful submis-
sions, and any ideas for public izing the ST F call for papers (above and b eyond the normal PR ef forts
of the
Journal
) to maxi mize the submission of qualit y manuscripts.
• Evidence of the S TF editor’s ability to provide ef fective review s in a timely fashion.
• Any other re levant information, includ ing the editor’s own scholarsh ip and interest in and knowl-
edge of the proposed topic a rea.
Proposals shou ld be submitted vi a email to the
Journal ’s
editorial a ssistant, Ms. Lynn Ma rstiller (lmarst iller@ism.ws),
by Se ptember 1, 2013. Proposa ls will be e valuated by the
JSCM
editorial te am, and dec isions will be made by
October 15, 2013.
