Power can be def ined as the abilit y to influenc e others’
behavior or the cou rse of events. The role and nat ure
of power in supply cha ins is evolvi ng because f irms
are increa singly embedded i n complex, globa lly dispers ed
supplier network s. With supply ch ains spann ing multiple
tiers and buye rs and supplier s often shar ing multi-face ted
relationships, t he question arise s as to how individual f irms
wield power, how control of the s upply chain is gained , how
profits are di stributed, a nd what consequence s the use of
power has on the supply c hain ecosystem.
We invite papers for t he Special Topic Forum on Powe r in
Supply Chain Ma nagement that c hallenge a nd advance
our underst anding of power in mode rn supply cha ins.
