Power can be def ined as the abilit y to influence ot hers’
behavior or the cou rse of events. The role and natu re
of power in supply chai ns is evolving because fi rms
are increasi ngly embedded in comple x, globally d ispersed
supplier networks . With supply cha ins spanning mu ltiple
tiers and buye rs and suppliers of ten shari ng multi-faceted
relationships, t he question arise s as to how individual f irms
wield power, how control of the supply c hain is gained , how
profits are dis tributed, and w hat consequences t he use of
power has on the supply c hain ecosystem.
We invite papers for the S pecial Topic Forum on Power in
Supply Chain Man agement that ch allenge and adva nce
our understa nding of power in moder n supply chain s.
Papers may be eit her conceptual or e mpirical in nat ure
and pursue eit her theor y-building or theor y-testing . In
terms of empir ical methodolog y, papers may be based
on various tec hniques (e.g., sur vey, archiva l research ,
laboratory stud ies). Papers foc used on conceptual theory
building are welcome too.

Theory, Resourc e-based Theor y, the Relational Vie w, Social
