S
purred by the r apid development of international ma rkets,
enhanced ea se of communications and rapidly de veloping
infrast ructure, supply c hains that trans cend national bound-
aries have become st andard in today’s dyna mic global environ-
ment, causing a numbe r of critical researc h issues to emerge.
The importa nce of such issues is intensif ied when considered
in the unique env ironment faced by supply chain s in emerging
economies, such as Br azil, Russia, I ndia and China. Traditiona l
supply chain ma nagement practices may be inef fective, due
to the unique ch aracterist ics of supply chains in emer ging
economies or that span deve loped and emerging economies.
In this spec ial topic forum, we seek hig h quality conceptua l
and empirica l research that addres ses critical re search issues
related to manag ing supply chains in emerg ing economies.
Conceptual pap ers should draw upon and ex tend existing
theoret ical foundation s, developing model s and propositions
for future rese arch. Empirical rese arch studies that employ
surve y methodology, struct ured case resea rch, secondary
data analy sis, controlled exper iments and other empirical
approaches are welcomed. In l ine with
JS CM’s

practice.
