EDITORIAL
SPECIAL ISSUE OF PAPERS FROM THE 6TH INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCE ON KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING AND
ONTOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
The present special issue of the Wiley Journal Intelligent Systems in Accounting, Finance and Manage-
ment includes extended and revised versions of selected papers from the International Conference on
Knowledge Engineering and Ontology Development KEOD 2013.
This special issue herewith presents ve research papers, which are revised and extended versions of
papers presented at KEOD 2013 namely: An Analysis of Applicability using Quality Metrics for Ontol-
ogies on Ontology Design Patterns (by Birger Lantow and Kurt Sandkuhl), Management of Knowledge
Sources Supported by Domain Ontologies - Building & Construction Case Study (by Ruben Costa and
Celson Lima), A Flexible Approach to Semantic Annotation Systems for Web Content (by Manuel
Fiorelli, Maria Teresa Pazienza and Armando Stellato), Universal Enterprise Adaptive Object Model:
a Semantic Web based implementation of Organizational Self-Awareness (by David Aveiro and Duarte
Pinto) and Image Retrieval with Textual Label Similarity Features (by Alicia Sagae and Scott E.
Fahlman).
We believe that all papers presented in this special issue will serve as a reference for students, re-
searchers, and practitioners who do research in the areas of knowledge management and ontology de-
velopment. We hope that the readers will nd new inspiration for their research and may join the KEOD
community in the future.
We would like to thank all the authors for their contributions and also the reviewers who have helped
ensuring the quality of this publication. Finally, we would also like to express our gratitude to the Wiley
