Space Force, NGA at Odds Over Commercial Imagery.

* The Space Force has been tasked with providing space-based services to combatant commands.

Meanwhile, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has big contracts with commercial companies to provide space-based imagery gathered by privately owned satellites.

Gen. David Thompson, Space Force vice chief of operations, said commanders in the field need that data in a timely manner, and if NGA can't do it quick enough, the Space Force may have to take over responsibility.

"The NGA believes--and has stated very clearly--they believe it's their responsibility," Thompson said during a Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies talk.
