I enjoyed immensely John Nichols's interview with Kshama Sawant (November issue) and shared it with my dinner companion. He said, "I could vote for her." So could I. If only we lived in Seattle. I am writing today to learn if she was able to achieve re-election in November. If so, will you print it in the next issue of The Progressive?

Editor's reply: Yes, Kshama Sawant was re-elected to the Seattle City Council on November 3 with 53 percent of the vote.

Either Kshama Sawant values ideological purity over common sense or she is startlingly naive about national politics. What party Bernie Sanders runs in has nothing to do with the difficulty he will face in getting his program enacted. It will be hard under any circumstances, but it will be impossible if he is not in office.
