Social responsibility writ large: Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters grants seven scholarships.

TEI's Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters have taken their social responsibility seriously. This year, the Dallas Chapter funded three $2,000 scholarships at the University of North Texas. In addition, the chapter joined forces with the Fort Worth Chapter to grant another four $2,000 scholarships at the University of Texas at Arlington.

The recipients of the scholarships wrote letters expressing their appreciation for the financial assistance. Excerpts follow from the thank you letters sent to Nancy Farahmand of J.C. Penney Company, who coordinates the Dallas Chapter's scholarship efforts.

Jindi Hunag: "I want to personally thank you for your contribution to the Accounting Department of the University of North Texas scholarship program, because it is surely a big help and encouragement to me." Explaining that the scholarship also enabled her to qualify for in-state tuition at UTA next year, she continued, "That is a huge savings for me and my family. My parents are also excited about this good news and they also want to express their thankfulness to you .... I have been working hard in my classes and I am also interviewing to get the internship to earn more first-hand experiences. Education is expensive and the learning experience is sometimes exhausting."

Yingying Liu: "I am honored to be a recipient of the Tax Executives Institute Dallas Chapter Scholarship. Your generous support is helping me fulfill a lifelong dream of being an accountant.... Without donors like you, many students would be unable to pursue the career of their dreams.... I hope to set a fine example for my daughter.'"

Krishna Morawala: "I am writing to thank you for your generous support of the Tax Executive Institute Dallas Chapter Scholarship. I am very happy and appreciative to learn that I was selected as the recipient by the Department of Accounting Scholarship committee. It is a great honor for me to receive this scholarship... Because of scholarship patrons like you, many students such as myself can pursue the career they have dreamed of."

Farid Bhojanee: "Being an immigrant to this country has not only offered me financial and academic challenges, but it has more importantly made me realize the value of a college education. I hope to set...
