THE REDLANDS, CALIF., police department is using a compact, intelligent battery charger that was conceived by GEM Power LLC there. The system was made possible by a grant that was provided by the Cal State San Bernardino's office of technology transfer and commercialization.
The charger relies on a computer chip and software that checks the charging battery every two seconds.
