Though the Journal does not normally review issues of other journals, an exception is made in this case, as the combined volumes 54 and 55 of the Bulletin are in effect both a Festschrift and a substantial book. The lietmotif, Sir William Jones, however, becomes somewhat less noticeable as one reads through the collection of papers, which are organized in three sets: "Sir William Jones," "Sanskrit and Linguistic Studies," and "Ancient Indian Culture."
