"Women often feel overwhelmed with the things they would need to do in order to get and maintain good health. They envision hours of gym time and a huge salad at every meal. While that is one way to do it, it is not the way that works for most people, who have a full schedule, stress, and a laundry list of daily tasks. They need simple ways to be healthy, or they will not feel like it is an effort they can engage in," says Bob Posner, founder of the Serotonin-Plus Weight Loss Program.

Here are his recommendations:

* Sit less. A study in Preventative Medicine reports that longer sitting time at work is associated with greater waist circumference. Look into desks that allow you to stand while working; getting up for five minutes every hour can help. Even standing whenever you are on the phone can make a difference.

* Move more. Engaging in regular exercise plays a big role in how healthy people are. A study in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine reports that walking for exercise and engaging in vigorous workouts both are associated with a reduction in mortality.
