Silver Lining Expands.

Alaskan Glacier Seafoods, one of Petersburg's oldest processing plants, became a division of Silver Lining Seafoods of Ketchikan on Jan. 1, 1990. Alaskan Glacier's founder, Earl Ohmer, began processing shrimp in 1916 in Petersburg. Later he added crab.

The plant is owned by Earl Ohmer's grandson, Dave Ohmer, and his mother, Gloria Ohmer. After Alaskan Glacier's previous plant was completely gutted by fire on Feb. 1, 1985, the Ohmer family built a new Alaskan Glacier plant in Petersburg in 1986.
