It's certainly ironic: In Sistersville, West Virginia--a town founded by two women in the early 1800s-women are technically not allowed to vote, according to an 1899 law. The law--which became null in 1920 when the 19th Amendment granted suffrage to women-came to the attention of Sistersville officials only recently when they were consulting the town charter after the resignation of the mayor. Some townspeople want to amend the charter, even though the change would be purely symbolic. Others say it's unnecessary and would cost thousands of dollars in legal fees...
