Results from a survey of 398 global senior executives reveal that two-thirds (67 percent) of respondents oppose mandatory retirement of chief executive officers.

Peter Felix, president of the Association of Executive Search Consultants says, " 'Ageism' is under the spotlight, as the U.S. electorate considers a candidate over 70."

The survey, conducted in May by BlueSteps, the career-management service of AESC, asked, "Should there be a mandatory retirement age for CEOs?" Responses tallied as follows:

* 6%--Yes, 60+

* 17%--Yes, 65+

* 10%--Yes, 70+

* 67%--No...
