Stepping up technology implementation—Media
for people with intellectual disabilities (ED)
Scope: The Education Department’s Office of
Special Education and Rehabilitative Services seeks
applications for the Office of Special Education
Programs: Educational Technology, Media, and
Materials for Individuals with Disabilities Program:
Stepping-up Technology Implementation announcement
to implement and integrate an existing technology-
based tool or approach, based on at least promising
evidence into the provision of teacher in-service training;
and provide ongoing technology-based professional
development and coaching for in-service trainers in the
use of technology to, and understanding of how the
technology may, support teachers to improve classroom
and remote learning environment instruction and
learning outcomes for children with disabilities in pre-
kindergarten through grade 12 settings.
Deadline: Aug. 14, 2020.
Funds: $2.5 million for up to ve awards.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations; nonprot organizations; and state, local,
special district and Native American tribal governments;
among others.
Areas: ED said examples of the technologies that can
be used to support teacher learning include virtual
coaching, in which a coach interacts electronically
with teachers to improve teaching skills; learning
management systems that allow sharing of documents
and data in one central location; and gamication, which
involves bringing elements associated with video games
into the learning environment to increase engagement
and make tasks challenging.

Short Documentaries (NEH)
Scope: The National Endowment for the Humanities
seeks applications for the FY2021 Short Documentaries
announcement to support the production and distribution
of documentary lms of up to 30 minutes that engage
audiences with humanities ideas in appealing ways.
The program aims to extend the humanities to new
audiences through the medium of short documentary
lms.
Deadline: Jan. 6, 2021.
Funds: $2.5 million total for up to nine awards of up to
$300,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; nonprot
organizations; and state, local and Native American
tribal governments.
Areas: NEH said Short Documentaries awards may
support activities such as: meeting with scholars; script
renement; shooting and editing of short lms; creation
or enhancement of resources, including websites or
other digital components, related to the proposed short
lm(s); and distribution, outreach activities and public
engagement related to the proposed short lm(s).
