Natural product use in the U.S. has shifted since 2007, according to a survey by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, Bethesda, Md., and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics, Atlanta, Ga. Overall, natural products (dietary supplements other than vitamins and minerals) remain the most common complementary health approach.

Here are some survey highlights:

* Fish oil is the top natural product among adults and children.

* Adults' use of glucosamine/chondroitin, echinacea, and garlic has decreased.

* Melatonin is the second most used natural product by children.
