When the March issue arrived, I wondered, "Who is that woman on the cover?" (Interview with Cindy Sheehan, by David Barsamian). Despite all the time she has been in the news, I had not seen a good picture of her.

The interview reveals her to be an extremely intelligent person with well thought out opinions. It inspired me to do some thinking myself.

Once the war is over, the United States should be liable for all the damage it has caused in Iraq. We should be able to sue Halliburton, Bechtel, Cheney, and their ilk for every last penny they have to contribute to reparations.

Thank you, Cindy, for your inspiring words.

David Barsamian quoted Cindy Sheehan as saying, "We didn't have any other groups with us" when she went to Crawford, Texas. But a busload of Veterans for Peace and Military Families Speak Out members accompanied Sheehan down to Crawford from the Veterans for Peace convention then happening in Irving, Texas.

There is a disappointing tendency of reporters to write about activists as if they are lone heroes instead of part of a movement. Other military families have been speaking out very strongly since the summer of 2003 when Bush said, "Bring it on."

Sheehan has been learning very quickly on her feet, and I commend her for her courage. Her spark has relit the larger peace...
