* Some 17 years after the cancelation of the Boeing-Sikorsky designed RAH-66 Comanche helicopter program, Deputy Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan still feels the pain. "That one really hurt," he told a small gathering of reporters. Shanahan was a Boeing executive during the program's development. "When you do these big, complex weapon systems you give up a big part of your life. You work seven days a week.... You forgo soccer games and birthday parties."

The "super painful" experience qualifies him to give advice to the Army as it renews its efforts to field modernized rotary-wing aircraft...
