The Atlanta Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service was founded in 1955.

I am privileged to serve as the chair of the Atlanta Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) for 2024-25, and this is an incredible special year: LRIS is celebrating its 70th year in existence.

"The mission of the Atlanta Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service is to provide and promote access to the legal system through an organized referral service and grant program." (Mission Statement, Atlanta Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service Operating Rules.) The purpose of LRIS is to provide a public service to the Atlanta community by providing access to lawyers and legal help to individuals who need assistance with legal problems.

LRIS membership applications are available to all State Bar of Georgia members and the application itself can be found on the Atlanta Bar Association website at https://atlantabar. org/?pg=lrisapplicationQL. All applicants must be in good standing with the State Bar, must be engaged in the practice of law on a full-time basis and must maintain a law office in Georgia suitable for reception of clients during normal business hours, and must carry professional liability malpractice insurance with policy limits of at least $100,000/$300,000 and agree to maintain such coverage during the period of panel membership.
