Dan Tarantin, formerly president and CEO of Jackson-Hewitt Inc., the tax preparation firm, was named CEO of Cendant Corp. of New York. Last August, Tarantin had joined FISI-Madison, a Cendant subsidiary, as president.

Lisa A. Shipley was named president of The Horizon Group, a subsidiary of Hypercom Corp. that provides point-of-sale products and services. Shipley joined Hypercom in 1996 after serving as president of Terminal Management Systems Inc., a wholly owned NationsBank subsidiary. The Horizon Group is headquartered in St. Louis.

Abt Associates Inc., a privately owned company that provides social, demographic, economic, business and policy research, named Scott Rosa as vice president. Rosa joined the firm in 1992 as principal consultant in the company's business research and consulting practice. Previously, he was vice president and corporate director of research at Fleet Financial Group.

Roy Bricker and Peter M. Hamel have joined the Web payments services team of Concord EFS Inc., a provider of electronic commerce services. Bricker, who previously was vice president of product management at CMGI in New York, will develop strategic alliances with businesses that provide payment acceptance systems...
