September's song: "let's get organized".

PositionWHAT'S NEW? - Office supplies

Even though summer still has a few weeks left, once we turn the page to September, everything changes. It's time to put those laid-back days behind us, roll up our sleeves, and tackle all those projects and piles of papers that we pushed aside to make time for our vacations and trips to the beach. The first thing we do to get organized is reach for our stash of folders from The Smead Manufacturing Company, Hastings, Minn.

One product that has caught our attention is the new SuperTab folder. It is the same size as a standard 1/3 cut folder, but has an extra large tab with 90% more label area. We can write bigger and put more information on the tab, making it that much faster and easier to find the files we're looking for. The folders are available in letter and legal sizes in recycled manila ($8.99-11.99/box of 100) and five soothing colors ($15.49-17.99/box). Check out Smead's website to download the template to print the oversized labels (sold separately) on Microsoft Word.

For hanging folders, you can't beat the FasTab ($9.99-13.99, 20 per box). They come with built-in, heavy-duty two-ply tabs permanently attached. This eliminates the awkward step of inserting the tiny label in the plastic tab and connecting it to the folder. The tabs are embossed for accurate label placement or you can write directly on them. For added strength and durability, the paper is glued around both sides of the coated rod.

For transporting our most important documents, we always reach for Smead's colorful Pocket Portfolios with Antimicrobial Product Protection. The treated paper inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold, fungus, and mildew. One pocket is die cut to accept a business or title card, and the other is slit to hold electronic media. These brightly colored folders run $18, 15/box.
