II. Sentencing authority

Imposition of sentences is a judicial function to be performed by sentencing courts. See Resper v. State, 354 Md. 611, 620 (1999) (citing ABA Standards for Criminal Justice—Sentencing (3d. ed.), Standard 18-1.4).
