Texas really was a triumph.

The positive attitude generated from much hard work by the leaders of this organization and ACI to produce the event, and by the many members who shared their knowledge either from the stage or their chairs in the audience, had us all operating on some good momentum for the late Spring.

It reminded me that years ago former LMA President Silvia Coulter taught me to always seize upon a recent sale or success and immediately "sell from strength." In other words, when you're riding high, go ahead and quickly "close another deal" as your confidence will make that next sell even easier than the first.

With that in mind, I hope you all rode the momentum and excitement of the Texas conference to a few immediate successes when you arrived back at the office.

And now that a month or so has passed, I hope you'll take a few moments to remember that energy and allow it to help you focus again on driving revenue growth at your firms and companies in June, July and August. (There are lots of networking opportunities as we break out of our routine for Summer activities!)

I also hope the memories of the Dallas conference propel you to review and set "mid-year resolutions." I hope the collective knowledge will help you focus and push through, by whatever means necessary, the key initiatives you want to accomplish during the second-half of this year.

One friend, a marketing director at a 100-plus attorney firm in the southeast, was speaking recently about a six-month review of her department that she is initiating in order to move her partnership forward with her list of 2012 goals. She is compiling the list to show results, but also to celebrate her firm's successes. She is hopeful that this positive motivation will inspire them to green-light the opportunities she still wants to accomplish this year.

I am fortunate because simply having to write this column encourages me to reflect, reset and focus my professional and personal goals for the second half of the year. And here at Strategies, we are hoping to reflect that momentum through the ever-improving quality of this publication. We are proud that inside this issue you will find a great deal of data and member recognition for successes. We smile when we see pictures of our members having fun and celebrating their successes together.

Young or old, intellectual property lawyers may not be happy with Kathy Holmes.

Why? Because Holmes did her own trademark work to register marks...
